Restorative & Deep Tissue Massage – Treatment

To outline the treatment, it begins with a consultation form to find out about you as a whole, your lifestyle, exercise, ability to relax and sleep etc. We also identify any areas to focus the massage on, areas of tension or sensitivity. If you have any injuries, illness or concerns these are addressed at the beginning to ensure the massage is relaxing and rejuvenating for you. All treatments are suited to your preferred pressure, always feel free to request more or less at any point. Massage should not be painful and should be relaxing and releasing the tension, working with the body and muscles so they have time to restore themselves.

60-minute massage – head, neck, shoulder, stomach and back

The massage starts with warming up the skin and relaxing the mind, relieving tension built up in those back strong muscles. Balancing out your shoulders and starting the deeper work into your shoulders which hold most of the tension and release the build-up of stress.

The massage continues on your back and works collectively into your hips and up your spine, activating the area and stimulating the flow of blood, which brings oxygen and nutrients. Muscles can be especially tight in your upper back so the massage focuses on stimulating and stretching these, deeper thumb pad work into your scapular to release knot build up. More massage is brought into your neck and shoulders and relieve the negative tension. The massage ends with the influence of stimulating the body’s healing process and restoring the natural flow of energy.

Take the time to sit for a few minute after the massage, rehydrate and re-centre yourself.

90-minute massage – full body

The massage starts with your head if requested, warming up the skin and relaxing the mind. Following into your neck and relieving tension built up in those strong muscles. Balancing out your shoulders and starting the deep work into your shoulders which hold most of the tension and release the build-up of stress.

We work into your arms and legs to get deeper into the muscles through active and passive movements of the joints. This works to lessen any tension pain and facilitating movement. The fascinating part of this style of massage is to also work on draining your lymph system which improves circulation of any excess tissue and hastening the elimination of waste and toxic debris from your blood stream. This is drained by shallow but firm fluid movements along your lymphatic system, so when the massage feels softer it is for this reason.

The massage continues on your back and works collectively into your hips and up your spine, activating the lower back and stimulating the flow of blood, which brings oxygen and nutrients. Muscles can be especially tight in your upper back so the massage focuses on stimulating and stretching these, deeper thumb/pad work into your scapular to release knot build up. More massage is brought into your neck and shoulders and relieve the negative tension. The massage ends with the influence of stimulating the body’s healing process and restoring the natural flow of energy.

Take the time to sit for a few minute after the massage, rehydrate and re-centre yourself.

The massage will always start with a body scan, to locate where the body needs tension to be released. A warm up to prepare the body which allows the soft tissues to be moved and manipulated.

Effleurage warms the superficial tissues while relaxing the muscles, allowing the therapist to palpate and sense the condition of the tissue. Effleurage also adds in stimulating the peripheral nerves Increase lymph and blood flow, and thus aid the removal of waste products, stretch tissues and relaxes a client before the end of the massage.

For the most part, the massage generally concentrates on a specific problem area, usually associated with some sort of muscular tension, injury, such as sporting event, work or a hobby. Sports massage can also be used for maintenance purposes, to keep the body working as it should. Addressing shortened and tight muscles, keeping the body in balance.

RESTORATIVE MASSAGE

Based on Swedish & Holistic Massage

The word ‘holistic’ is characterised by the belief that a part of something is intimately interconnected and explicable only by reference to the whole. This approach to My Massage is to heal the body as a whole. To ensure not only the presenting conditions but all the conditions are looked at, like your job, lifestyle, diet, exercise, sleep pattern and general health. These are all taken into account in the massage, we aim to ensure that the energy and focus of the massage is tailored to you.

Touch soothes our nerves and decreases tension producing relaxation and a state of well-being. Touch can make you feel valued, peaceful and more aware of yourself as a whole. The minute we place our hands on another person’s body, we begin to treat both mind and body. A caring touch help the flow of blood and lymph in our bodies and soothes nerves to decrease tension. We also work through the soft-tissue across your body with petrissage, kneading, wringing, percussion and vibratory movements.

The aim during a restorative massage is to reach a state of balance within your body. The philosophy is that you can heal yourself if the restricting factors are removed, so our job as massage therapists is to remove those factors.
